poker superstars invitational Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

i was just watching last weeks episode of the fox sports poker superstars invitational .... the last hand i watched was where doyle brunson eliminated barry greenstien .... doyle had [10♣] [J♣] and barry had [K♥] [J♥] ...... doyle called barry's all in which was 18,500 or 4,500 over the top of doyle raise of 14,000 ..... the flop was [A♥] [7♣] [3♥] .... turn was [10♦] ..... and then the camera moves off the table and fox shows that the river was [7♣]

my question is this:

shouldn't there only be one [7♣] in the average deck of cards?
i understand that the river was most likey [7♠] but still ... shouldn't someone at fox catch this error before the show airs?

Various gambling on TV 12/21- 12/28/03 Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

All kinds of fun variation over the next 7 days. I'm posting a bit early because the Sands Showdown was supposed to be suddenly scheduled for 12/21.

Highlights:
2003 WSOP- The disappearing act that is ESPN scheduling (see tonight, for example, when Show #5 was scheduled for 8:00 EST) has evidently infected the entire following week

Celebrity Poker- and I thought last week was overkill. THIS week, you can watch each show in a row! (that is, if you're up REALLY late on the east coast)

WPT- Not to be outdone by EITHER network, the Travel Channel pulls the regular Wednesday rerun show and instead makes a "WPT Friday"

Showdown at the Sands- part of the original program is being shown this Sunday and next. I don't know what episode, nor do I know if the East Coast will get it (Comcast isn't listing it at least)

Showdown At The Sands update Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Here's an update from the Sands. There are about 60 players left and they will be playing down to 45 players or approximately 11pm, whichever happens first. I busted out pretty early, losing a series of small to medium sized pots. Howard Lederer was already gone, having lost his chips on a semi-bluff with a pair and an open-ended straight draw against a larger pair. (He had 13 cards to win, which makes him almost even money (50-50) to win with two cards to come.) Since we were both broke, Fox is putting us to work. Howard will be doing analysis and I'm assisting with the stats.

I've helped out the WPT a few times during the tapings, but this show is quite different. Fox is trying to turn these shows around in a few days, so the atmosphere here is almost like a live show. In the TV production trailer, there's a wall of about 50 monitors with live cameras and the director is switching between them in real time. Several of the players are hooked up to heart rate monitors and you can see their heart rates shoot up when they are all-in.

Right now the featured table includes Amir Vahedi, Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth, and Paul Wolfe. Amir has the chip lead at the table.
