Here's an update from the Sands. There are about 60 players left and they will be playing down to 45 players or approximately 11pm, whichever happens first. I busted out pretty early, losing a series of small to medium sized pots. Howard Lederer was already gone, having lost his chips on a semi-bluff with a pair and an open-ended straight draw against a larger pair. (He had 13 cards to win, which makes him almost even money (50-50) to win with two cards to come.) Since we were both broke, Fox is putting us to work. Howard will be doing analysis and I'm assisting with the stats.
I've helped out the WPT a few times during the tapings, but this show is quite different. Fox is trying to turn these shows around in a few days, so the atmosphere here is almost like a live show. In the TV production trailer, there's a wall of about 50 monitors with live cameras and the director is switching between them in real time. Several of the players are hooked up to heart rate monitors and you can see their heart rates shoot up when they are all-in.
Right now the featured table includes Amir Vahedi, Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth, and Paul Wolfe. Amir has the chip lead at the table.
