Seth Meyers

Cheater!!!!!

It was definitely a rerun, but did anyone catch the championship event for CPS this weekend?

It was actually he second time i was watching it, and I am certain that Seth Meyers cheated on a BIG hand against Jeff Gordon.

Here is my rough recollection of the hand:

Gordon has position on Meyers and Meyers opens preflop with a raise of 800 units (i think bb was about 200) with his pink A9 off. Gordon calls with J9 diamonds from that later position.

Flop is 3 rainbow bricks.

Meyers checks.
Gordon Raises 2000 units, Meyers flinches.
Meyers reraises minimum, 2000.
Gordon, staring at Meyers the whole time, reraises (minimum i think).
Meyers, again, completely off guard, looks around in the crowd and clearly makes eye contact with some1. Wierdly, he reraises ALL IN.

I turned off the TV right there.

That is huge Bullshiit.

Meyers had some inside and with the chamionship at stake, HE EFFING CHEATED.

terribly phrased post, and i don't preview my posts ("not even a new story/thread??" sorry).... but just want to add that Meyers' reaction to Gordons' first raise was shock, and hesitation. He looked into the crowd (as all crappy players) grasping for information. He pulled the same reaction after the second raise, and what was really obvious, was that (Jeff) Gordon was concentrating on the table the entire time, while on the other hand, Meyers never even looked at Gordon, spending most of his "thinking time" looking in the crowd.

Right before he made his final all in bet, I swear, I (the camera)caught him making eye contact with someone in the crowd, and could see him make him mind up after the eye contact. Reraise again with High card ace all in.

Did anyone else catch the rerun this weekend, or remember this hand?

Maybe he made eye contact with his girlfriend, who gave him the "GO FOR IT!" look. She was getting bored with the display of B-list celebrities acting like poker players (and not doing a good job of it, either) and just wanted to go home. Seth felt the same way and went for it. Luckily, he was bluffing a bluffer who had a slightly crappier hand.

it's possible, but this was the championship event of the CPS. I think 6 figures were at stake.

The play went uncommented by Phil Gordon.

I wish I had tivo....

6 figures for charity if memory serves me correct. Not the pocket book.

Totally off-topic, but, there is virtually no reason not to have Tivo.

Hey guys, I'm a new user and this is my first post.

I actually remember that hand in specific from when I watched that episode because both players were making such gutsy bluffs for people who don't know what they are doing. My recollection of what happened was not terribly similar to your collection booyea tho and that's really why I'm posting. I believe that after Jeff Gordon bet out with 2000, Seth raised 2000 and Jeff re-raised another 3000. At that point Seth only called the extra 3000 which makes decent sense considering he had two overcards compared to the board which I think was like [7]-high or something. One the turn, an [A] appeared, and Seth then checked. Gordon moved in and Seth called. As for the staring around the crowd business, I don't recall it at all but it probably happened and I don't remember it.

I don't really have a comment as to whether or not he was cheating, but ur details of the hand were pretty inaccurate I believe. If nothing else, I'm almost certain he did not get all his chips in until the turn card was revealed. That's all I have to say.

after i saw him confirm something via eye contact, and then reraise JG w/o even examining the guy after ANOTHER reraise, well, i turned the tv off completely and headed off for lower than usual stakes ring games to blow off some steam...

again, though i did tune out after the flop, my recollection and report of it is accurate, and I maintain those reraises from Seth Meyers were INCREDIBLY SUSPICOUS. I would bet all in myself that he cheated.

I didn't see that this weekend, but I recall seeing that episode when it first aired. I wonder how exactly you think he was cheating? Was Gordon lifting his cards up so high that someone in the audience with binoculars was able to read them? I'm pretty sure they don't have monitors so the audience can see the feeds from the lipstick cameras; that would be pretty stupid, since that audience in particular has traditionally been pretty vocal, and all you need is some DB yelling "He's got 7-2 off!" to ruin the game. So how was Meyers supposed to benefit from making eye contact with someone in the audience?

the card cam is available to anyone capable of splittling a feed. Basically, anyone in the production crew could be feeding him basic information via simple hand gestures.

again, wish i had tivo. I could have ripped a mpeg file of it for the board.... dang, anyway

Okay, so you're saying somebody
1) went to all the effort of splicing into the feed for Bravo's "Celebrity Poker," where the play is completely divorced from any reality or knowledge of cards in the first place,

2) worked out a system of signals with Seth Meyer before the show (who then doesn't know to even try and disguise the scam), and

3) springs it on a hand where Meyers isn't holding anything anyways;

4) just so one B-list celebrity could make a larger donation to one charity as opposed to another?

Forget TiVo, Booyea, you need to get a grip!

BIG BEN
